SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year, Kappa Kappa Psi offers two scholarships worth $500 dollars to one outstanding freshman and a fourth year senior in the marching band.
The Andrea Smith Memorial Scholarship was created to honor a KKY brother who passed during the marching season in the early 1990’s. The freshman chosen for this award demonstrates the qualities that Andrea possessed; respect, dedication, leadership, and PRIDE.
The Frank “Doc” Stevens Memorial Scholarship, which was named to honor our longtime friend and announcer, is given to a four-year senior who is a distinguished leader in the band, has shown persistence, and most importantly, exhibits PRIDE.
There is a nomination process for each scholarship. Any member of the band has the opportunity to nominate a person they feel exhibits these qualities. The winners will be determined by a panel and announced at the annual Band Banquet. It is truly an honor to be nominated because these scholarships have been awarded to some of the best leaders who have been in this band. The nomination forms will be available at practices, and are available here on our website soon.
Listen for announcements and updates throughout the season, and keep a lookout for freshmen and seniors that exhibit these qualities and are worthy of a nomination.
